I came across this track today whilst I was browsing for new music, it’s done by a band called One Eskimo…. Spotify or Youtube them for more music they’ve put out. ‘Hometime’ is another great song of their’s, one of my favourite’s
So for anyone in the UK music industry especially amongst the urban music community, if you don’t know Angel…then get to know. He’s a super talented singer/songwriter/producer. I was literally blown away when I first heard some of the early music he was working on, especially when I heard that he had written & produced everything himself which a lot of artists don’t do these days but he’s very hands on with everything and is currently writing hits for a lot of other artists. Cuts include Roll Deep, Pixie Lott, Wretch 32, list goes on for time. Arguably one of the best songwriters in the UK right now
He’s currently signed at Island Records and is expected to release an album some point next year. To give everyone just a little taste of what Angel is really about, pick up his EP….its called 7 Minutes Before Time. Click HERE to download
Here’s a track which is going on his album next year…next vibe
Also check this interview with Angel out, courtesy of @MrAmuru. Angel hasn’t released the song he’s talking about in this interview but I have heard it…the song is deep
Meet Zuzu, she’s a fresh faced new artist hailing from Liverpool
She’s managed by Big Life & is currently doing showcases for a handful of A&R people…looking forward to seeing her live. As far I know she’s hasn’t done any London shows?…I met he at Showcase Live a few weeks back, lovely girl. Another one to look out for
She’s said to be influenced by ‘The sex pistols, the enemy, the runaways, the arctic monkeys, the libertines, the Ramones, the strokes, young buffalos, Blondie, the vaccines, funeral party, the Futureheads, vampire weekend, arcade fire and MGMT’
Came across a new tune today by The Bullitts (Jeymes Samuels), I had the chance to check him out live at The Big Chill festival earlier this year….I thought I was dreaming when I actually saw Lucy Liu walk out on stage performing with a live band along producer Jeymes Samuels…..And then Idris Elba walked out as well! I posted a video of that performance below courtesy of @TheBluMile . Track is big
This is Josh Kumra. People best know him for featuring on Wretch 32′s single ‘Don’t Go’. He’s an up and coming singer/songwriter who I think is gona start making some real waves next year, he’s playing a lot of the live dates with Wretch…The Mobo’s, Jools Holland…the works! He’s also under the same management umbrella…Levels Entertainment but is still free to sign to any record label he wants, last I heard he had a couple of offers on the table. He has a really soulful voice…he kind of reminds me of a young James Morrison?…maybe not as pop as James though. Josh is also part of a duo called Kicaberry with Carra Bacon. You can follow @JoshKumra here…I think he’s a go
Here’s a demo of his and a performance with Wretch on Jools Holland…full band of course!
See link for this years Children In Need song, happy to see an unexpected cameo in the video by Gary Barlow (what a legend!) . The song features Ed Sheeran, Rizzle Kicks, Tulisa, Ms Dynamite, Wretch 32, Stryder, Mx Bratt, Dot Rotten, Chipmunk & Fazer all working together under the name ‘The Collective’…It was reproduced by Labrynth and is a cover of an old Massive Attack song. Its good to see more unity amongst the urban music community #DrivingTheSceneForward
I got the chance to go down to Showcase Live a few weeks ago and one of the stand out acts for me was Project Alfie. He’s an unsigned act managed by 21st Artists with huge potential….he really reminds me of a modern Donny Hathaway, great voice…not sure if thats what he was going for but thats just my thoughts? Check his track out here, its called ‘Beggin’. He’s currently working towards doing a mixtape which I’m definitely going to keep an eye out for
He has another gig coming up on the 11th of October at The Tommyfield in SE11…definitely worth going to check him out. Facebook ‘Project Alfie’ for more info and follow him @ProjectAlfie
Meet 21 year old Foxes aka Louisa. She’s a really new/exciting artist from Southampton which is gaining a growing A&R interest by playing shows in London. She’s said to be Inspired by ‘strong, imaginative, female performers, from Nina Simone and Patty Smith to Kate Bush and Bat For Lashes’.
Check out Polydor’s newly signed artist, Zernell Fontaine, he’s a young RnB/Pop star. He’s been in the studio working hard and is looking to release something next year…what do ya think of the video?
